The Great Flood....:(

After Church today LeGrand called from the Bishop's office and told me that some of our neighbors crawl space flooded, and asked me to run and check ours. This is what I found. We tried frantically to get everything out....We will be throwing away tons of stuff...Yeah I've been wanted to declutter and go through stuff lately, but this wasn't the way I had in mind. At first it only looked like the playroom side was wet...and it was really wet...there were about 5 inches of water on the floor, but now the storage side is filling up!!!!
We had so many helpers....and now we have a HUGE mess!!!
The water keeps getting deeper and deeper. It's coming through the cement. We had tons of snow, and then it got warmer and started raining and it's been raining for days....with all the snow melting all at once, the ground still frozen we have more water than we know what to do with.....AAAHHH I know we are supposed to pray for rain, and be grateful for it, but I just want it to stop!!!!! Our back yard in one big pond. (These pictures don't give it justice....it looks way worse in person!!)

Here is our little "Flood Club". Brayden, Adelyn and Sophie made it up. Brayden is the President, Adelyn is the Vice President, Sophie is the Secretary. We have already held several "club" meeting trying to figure out how we can fix the play room... (you like our cereal supply, Yea I do coupons and this is our stash in the crawl space...they were up on stuff so they didn't get wet, but we brought them up anyways.) What big helpers we have!!! Thanks kiddos!

Sad Story....it would be bad enough if this just happened to us....but it didn't...Our whole neighborhood is flooded...there are at least 15 families that got flooded.....and I'm sure there are more that we don't know about yet. I've never been in a disaster, but this is the nearest we've come. It was amazing to see our neighborhood and ward pull together....We have had tons of people run over to help, call on the phone. Thank you to everyone who came to help, Kevin, Brandon, Peter, Carl, Nick, you guys are amazing!!! I know it sounds dumb, but after we found out we were flooding I was feeling panicked and urgent to get it all done, then Brayden suggested that we say a prayer, we prayed as a family and then went back to work. I was thinking and praying in my heart and I just kept feeling like we need help. Moments later the phone rang and it was Kevin Cook calling to see if we were flooded, and to say he was on his way over and see if Lona Marie could watch the kids... I started balling after I got off the phone...In the midst of trials Heavenly Father still wraps his arms around you!! For that I'm eternally grateful!!

We are pumping out water, but we still have 2 inches on both sides now....tomorrow we will probably have to have the professional cleaners come and help so we don't get any mold...Ahhhhh Then we need to figure out what to do so that this won't ever happen again...I wish I could say that this was almost over...but I'm afraid we are far from being done.... it could be worse...at least it's just rain water instead of a busted sewer line.........yes it could be worse!!!

Ahh... Becca, I am so sorry that this happened. That is terrible. Try to stay as positive as you can, and hang in there. It is always good to get organized, I guess. Take is one step at a time. You'll be in our prayers.

Oh Becca that is MISERABLE!! We've had our basement flood and we were SO hesitant to finish the basement because of it. But we'd done TONS of fixing so we felt pretty confident that it wouldn't happen again because it was a NIGHTMARE! Luckily it hasn't yet and it's been over a year. I feel your pain! Let me know if there's anything you need! Such a bummer!

I'm so sorry!! I wish that I could come over your home and help you out more and even help you dry and organize your stuff last Sunday and today, but I just found out from your blog tonight that your playroom got flooded. I totally felt the same way as you when the half of my parent's house, including my whole room and closet, was totally flooded when we came home from New York vacation about 10 years ago on SUNDAY morning! We found out my bathroom facet was made out of plastic tube and it broke and popped out while we were on vacation and went shooting tons of water like an old faithful...It was way way bad! My dad was a bishop at that time and our sacrament mtg was canceled, so the entire ward was able to help my family and me move all the stuff They had to strip all of the walls and floors and the first floor ceilings out of the house in order to prevent molds. I'm glad that your ward was able to help you guys out. Please let me know if you need any help with anything, organizing stuff, etc... I would love to! I hope everything including your playground will recover soon. We are keeping you in our prayer. Thank you for trying to invite us over to eat last Sunday even though we had plans. We would love to spend time with you guys other time. Your family are so wonderful, and I love the cute "Flood club"! What a great idea!

Becca, I am so sorry you are having to deal with that. What a pain. I know it was a couple of days ago and you probably have things well under control, but if there is anything I can do to help, let me know.

Becca, SO sorry to hear about the flood! Wow. Do people have "sump pumps" in UT? That's what we have out here in Omaha. I always wonder what would happen if our sump pump stopped working during the spring when it's really rainy...I'm sure it would be like your house. I hope it all gets fixed quickly and all is well. It's so fun to see your blog and see your sweet family. I have a picture on my blog of you at my wedding reception...check back to my December blogs and you'll see it!:) Blogging is such a great way to keep in touch. Keep in touch!:) Hugs, Melissa
